INI MOVEMENT PRESENTS BLOCK PARTY
On Thursday July 11th, INI Movement, Patronaat, Houtbaar & Popcentrum Slachthuis join forces to revive the spirit of the Block Party at Houtbaar, Haarlem. As a valuable part of our community, we would like to invite you to be a part of this.
Inspired by the vibrant gatherings of the '70s in New York, we aim to nurture local talent, foster community bonds, and create a platform for artists to shine.
This initiative is made possbible with the support of Fonds Podiumkunsten and a newly formed music hub in West Netherlands, including Paradiso, Super Sonic, Bird, House of Knowledge, Paard and Orisun Studio.
The jam session will be hosted by Playground, a dynamic series of open mic sessions held at Slachthuis Haarlem. For the Blockparties, we’ve invited pianist/singer Daniel von Piekartz to lead these spontaneous musical gatherings, seamlessly blending soul, funk, and jazz, into an unforgettable experience for all. Meanwhile, our DJ’s Revert 95 Sound System by Sam D, Shamis and Umoja will bring the house down with their sets.
Talents and makers can connect with industry professionals like Amir Charles (Sony), Debbie Martlew (The Orchard), Roxy Sun (Empire), Ivo Maisan (Bevrijdingspop Haarlem) and more to be announced!
The highlight of the evening will be the Estafête, a collaborative jam session between DJs, professional musicians and audience members, turning improvised music merge into a hot, sweaty party. The DJ plays a tune, the band takes over and vice versa. Meanwhile, all you have to do is dance!
This edition’s lineup consists of incredible musicians like Euan Jenkins on drums, Aaron Bouwman on bass, Chelsea Laverne on keys, Lucas van Ee on sax, and Valentijn Bannier on guitar.
